Screen Recorder

Click Start recording, then choose a screen, window or tab in the browser dialog. Everything stays on your device.

About this tool

Record your screen, a single window or a browser tab right in your browser using getDisplayMedia and MediaRecorder. Optionally mix in your microphone, pause and resume while recording, then preview the result and download it as a WebM file. Everything runs locally and nothing is uploaded.

How to use
  1. Tick "Also record microphone" if you want your voice in the recording.
  2. Click Start recording, then pick a screen, window or tab in the browser dialog.
  3. Use Pause and Resume while recording; the timer tracks only the active time.
  4. Click Stop, preview the result, then download the WebM file.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. Both capture and encoding run locally in your browser, and the recording only exists in this tab until you download it.

Why can't I choose which area to record?

For security the browser decides what may be captured. You pick a screen, window or tab in the browser's own dialog, and a website cannot crop or restrict that choice.

What format is the file, and how do I convert it to MP4?

The output is a WebM file (VP9/VP8 video with Opus audio when supported). To get MP4, convert it with a separate tool such as ffmpeg or HandBrake — this page does not include a converter.

Why doesn't it work on mobile?

Mobile browsers do not expose the screen-capture API, so recording is not possible there. Open this tool on a desktop browser instead.
