About this tool
Upload or drop a photo or screenshot of a QR code and get the encoded text back in a second. We decode it locally with jsQR, so your image never leaves your device. Handles both dark-on-light and light-on-dark codes, and detects the content type (URL, Wi-Fi, plain text) from what it reads.
How to use
- Click or drag an image that contains a QR code onto the upload area.
- The decoder reads the QR code and shows the extracted text.
- Review the content, then copy it to your clipboard.
Is my uploaded QR code image sent to a server?
No. The image is decoded entirely in your browser using jsQR. The file never leaves your device.
Can it read a QR code from a screenshot or photo?
Yes. Any image with a recognizable QR code works — screenshots, photos, or scanned prints. Clear, well-lit codes decode most reliably.
What data does it extract?
Whatever the QR code contains. Most codes hold a URL, but they can also carry Wi-Fi credentials, plain text, contact data, JSON, or other information — all returned as text.
