About this tool
Shorten any text to a chosen length, counting by characters or by words. Optionally add an ellipsis at the cutoff point so your reader knows more text follows.
How to use
- Type or paste your text into the input box.
- Choose Character or Word mode and set the maximum length.
- Optionally enable Ellipsis to append "…" at the cutoff, then copy the result.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Does it add an ellipsis automatically?
Only when you enable Ellipsis. Text that is already within the length limit is returned unchanged.
