About this tool
Calculate checksums entirely in your browser: pick MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512, then paste text or choose a file. Results are shown as lowercase hex, computed locally with the hash-wasm codecs (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512). Nothing leaves your device.
How to use
- Choose a hash algorithm (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512).
- Switch between text and file input — large files are processed asynchronously.
- Copy the resulting hex digest in one click.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Hashing happens entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Is MD5 secure?
MD5 is considered broken for security purposes due to collisions, and is provided here only for checksums and compatibility. Use SHA-256 or SHA-512 for anything security-related.
Can I hash a large file?
Yes. Switch to file mode and choose any file — it is streamed in chunks and computed locally, with a progress indicator.
